HE The Minister receives top UN official

Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received United Nations Resident Co-ordinator Amin Sharkawi, who congratulated the minister on the formation of the National Committee to follow up the implementation of the National Plan for Energy Efficiency and the National Plan for Renewable Energy.
These are the most important steps that would strengthen Bahrain’s plan of shifting towards renewable energy and in achieving the country’s international obligations on sustainable development goals.
During the meeting, Mr. Sharkawi stressed on the support of the United Nations Development Programme for the Sustainable Energy Unit through its role as an observer.  He expressed confidence in the possibility of achieving 6 per cent renewable energy use by 2025.
The minister thanked the UN official for his constructive ideas and efforts to support sustainable development as well as on cooperation in other areas.
