The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) celebrated the Bahrain Sports Day at the soccer stadium in Awali with events including hiking and football.
The celebrations came as part of the implementation of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s directive allocating half a working day for all ministry and government staff to celebrate Bahrain's Sports Day to promote the concept of sport for all and bring awareness of the importance of sport and its role in the life of the individual and community.

Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza praised the initiative to practice sporting activity because of its positive effects in many respects. He said it contributes to increasing awareness of the importance of physical activity, sports, health and culture in the lives of citizens.
He said sports also raises awareness towards the health of employees and reduces absenteeism from work due to health reasons. It also raises the level of productivity.
The minister thanked the organizers and all the officials and employees who took part in this national event.
The event was also attended by EWA Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa and all the officials of the authority along with a large number of employees.
