HE The Minister receives UN official

Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received United Nations Resident Co-ordinator Amin Sharkawi, who congratulated him on Bahrain’s decision to approve the national plan to raise energy efficiency and the national plan for renewable energy.
This looks at a national goal for Bahrain to have five per cent reliance on renewable energy by 2025 and 10 per cent by 2035.
Mr. Sharkawi said these plans and objectives would help Bahrain in achieve sustainable development goals, particularly on energy efficiency and new energy. He said it would also help to attract new international investment, which would create jobs for young Bahrainis. He said this would also bring Bahrain in line with countries that have a diversity of energy sources.
The minister thanked Mr. Sharkawi for his constructive ideas and his determined efforts to support the work of the ministry in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy, as well as on joint cooperation, which have resulted in these achievements.
