HE The Minister delivers keynote address

Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza yesterday delivered the keynote address at the 18th International Productivity Conference, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, at the Gulf Hotel.
During his presentation at the event, under the slogan "New Ways to Innovate and Increase Productivity", Dr. Mirza spoke on innovation and sustainability and highlighted the importance of innovation and increased productivity in light of the challenges faced by the government sector and the private sector in terms of population growth and rapid financial and economic changes.
The minister focussed on the relationship between innovation and productivity and their role in the sustainable energy sector in Bahrain and the pursuit of good leadership to secure sustainable development in the country.
Dr. Mirza explained the foundations and required elements in ministries and companies to reach satisfactory results in increasing productivity and innovation. He also spoke about success stories of international companies and institutions in the field, and supported these with articles of thinkers and experts who have presented a distinguished philosophy in the definition of the subject of productivity and innovation development.

The minister also presented examples of rapid developments in the field of innovation from flying to self-driving cars to the most complex medical processes in the history of human medicine.
The minister said one of the important steps taken by Bahrain’s government in its endeavour to secure a green environment and clean energy was the setting up of the Sustainable Energy Unit in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The unit is concerned with encouraging investment in renewable energies such as solar energy.
The minister thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his patronage of the event and the organizers, headed by Jafcon Consultancy Company and the Bahrain Society for Training and Development, in cooperation with a number of other institutions, sponsors, speakers and participants.
